Brief Introduction
The College of Foreign Languages & Cultures, CDUT, has a faculty of 115 English, Japanese, Russian and French instructors, including 8 professors, 17 associate professors, 52 lecturers and some visiting foreign professors each year. It has an undergraduate program offering courses for 4 dimensions: English literature, English Culture, Business English, and Business Japanese. It is authorized to grant Master’s degree of foreign linguistics & applied linguistics. Now 1,100 undergraduates and postgraduates are pursuing their studies in the college.
The college has grown with Chengdu University of Technology for almost half a century. Since the establishment of the Foreign Languages Training Center for China Ministry of Geology in 1978, the college has trained the scientists going to more than 30 countries to to study, investigate and cooperate with their international counterparts in English, Japanese, Russian, French and German for five China ministries. In 1992, it began to enroll four-year college students and three-year college students of foreign language majors. In 2001, it enrolled the postgraduates of English majors.
The development of the college has drawn an extensive concern from the society. Up to now, more than 10 newspapers, periodicals and TV stations have reported its talented personnel training; over 10 delegations of China ministries, provincial leaders and the experts on foreign languages have visited the college. The foreign language major of the college ranks ninety-seventh in the similar kind of majors of 400 colleges and universities in China.
The College of Foreign Languages & Cultures is accelerating its development toward the new goal of its new plan.
